SANTOS $80,000 DONATIONS TO FEDERAL NATIONALS POSSIBLY LINKED TO FIGHTING ‘WATER TRIGGER’

SANTOS $80,000 DONATIONS TO FEDERAL NATIONALS POSSIBLY LINKED TO FIGHTING ‘WATER TRIGGER’

Breaking News Tony Windsor Press Release.

Tony Windsor has today questioned how Barnaby Joyce can claim to fight for maintenance of clean and secure water, following analysis of Australian Electoral Commission donation disclosures which shows the federal Nationals took $80,360 from Santos beginning 15th September 2011, three days after the federal ‘water trigger’ legislation was introduced by Mr. Windsor.

“How can the people of New England, many of whom are deeply concerned about the possible impacts on their properties and groundwater systems contamination from Santos and other CSG companies, believe Mr. Joyce when he is being funded by the very company they are fighting? This is the very definition of a conflict of interest,” Mr. Windsor said.

Cotton Dreams

Cotton Dreams

From a Blog called the Dailys

Cotton is almost magical in that it is a plant that grows cotton wool balls, literally. You could pluck off a ball and straight away use it to clean your face or your ears of whatever you normally do. It has always felt to me more like something from a Dr Seuss book than real life. A glorious tight-budded fruit that opens up into fluffy white clouds of cotton wool.

Heath Aston Sydney Morning Herald June 5 2016

Fossil fuel giant Santos has submitted new plans to drill for coal seam gas in the heart of Australia's richest farming country, the Liverpool Plains - an area inside Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce's hotly-contested seat of New England.

Documents lodged with the NSW Government show the Australian miner has set out a three-year program to explore for gas in "PEL 1", one of its most valuable "petroleum exploration license" areas.

Narrabri's Peter Chapman earns a place in the Comics Hall of Fame

Narrabri's Peter Chapman earns a place in the Comics Hall of Fame

ABC New England by Jennifer Ingall

It took Peter Chapman just a few minutes to recreate one of his most popular cartoon characters.

His hands these days shake a little, but the old genius is still there.

This year, Mr Chapman has been honoured for his historically significant, positive impact on Australian comics with a place in the Ledger of Honour, the Australian Comics Hall of Fame.

Diagnosed with polio at seven years of age, drawing helped pass the time.

"My mother used to keep me out in the sun on the front verandah, I lay on the floor and draw," he recalls.

Old Photos of the Railway Stations of Narrabri

Old Photos of the Railway Stations of Narrabri

Noel Dowden images of Narrabri

Here are some images of the dismantling of the old loco railway shed in Narrabri West in 1980.  Lots of memories there for people.  The other shots are of the Narrabri West Railway Station and the Narrabri Railway station with various types of engines pulled in.  There is also a photo of the craft shop in dangar street during the 1955 flood. This was then owned by Noel's grandfather and grandmother Henry(bob) Shephard and Ethel Shephard. During the flood all our family camped on the roof in between the roof peaks, which is a little hard to make out due to the age of the photo.  Enjoy the step back in time.  If you have any photos you would like to share please let me know.
