We are writing to ask if you'd be interested in bringing young professionals into your community, to tell you about some of the Brolga Project’s successes and to let you know about our exciting 'Campaign 100'.
The Brolga Project seeks to place metropolitan-based university students into work experience positions with rural and regional businesses, to encourage students to look to regional careers when they graduate.
After 19 months of being in existence, our successes are starting to roll out:
• Some students are enjoying their placements so much they have gone back for a second round; one of our successful placements has taken up a full-time career and is now looking to host a student of her own;
• We have moved a few students across NSW, QLD, Vic, Tas and SA, and now have over 600 on our books!!
Students represent over 40 study fields, and, in what is a particularly powerful opportunity for regional communities....
Some are married mature-age students with years of practice/work behind them, (but are at uni to get Australian credentials) and they are keen to move their entire families into a regional community; they see the Project as a means of testing out regional life in the short-term before making the big move.
'Campaign 100' is designed to build momentum to the Brolga Project - getting some of the excellent quality students off our books and into regional work. We have brought in a highly skilled Campaign Manager (Press Release here
http://brolgaproject.com.au/PR_100427_Campaign_100.php and we're looking to place at least 100 students for the June/July semester break, many whom are looking for full-time work in the near future.
Along with the support of our existing networks and some local media support, the attached dynamic PowerPoint is a cornerstone of our Campaign; it contains music and sound files and succinctly describes the Campaign - asking viewers to complete EOIs where possible, and to forward it on through their networks.
'Campaign 100' is an across-the-board, participatory, dynamic, short-term campaign which will lay the foundation for an injection of enormous human and financial capital into regional and rural Australia.
The students are thriving on their placements, the Brolga Project is working - please help us build regional capital!
